Monitoring Technology / New Work Environment
"Everyone at TELE is unique. But they are united – as a large and productive organization."
When Christoph Haase took the reins of his over 50 year old family business in 2000, he wanted to approach the challenges of the high tech monitoring industry differently. In a classic work environment the decision makers and the ones with the most knowledge are not necessarily the same people. Communication between Sales (the people with the most knowledge about product requirements) and Development (the people most knowledgable about technical limitations and opportunities) is often inefficient and slows down progress in an ever-changing market."
With that in mind Christoph and his partner Markus Stelzmann decided to make a move that is often reserved for less traditional businesses. They reorganized the management setup as a whole and made one of the boldest moves in the electronics industry: They gave the decision making powers to the employees and implemented "TELErism" into TELE.
"Grape is an amazing tool that allowed us to
get the most out of our flat hirarchy"
Christoph Haase, Owner
To unify TELE's communication and onboard the whole team we interviewed the stakeholders and created custom integrations for true efficiency improvement.
To keep all stakeholders in the loop, TELE tasked the amazing ENGARDE development agency with the creation of a management platform called INFONET
For a streamlined realtime conversation we connected Grape with the interface of Infonet to index all service tasks and send any activity of a circle to its corresponding room in Grape
"I was sold the first time I saw the Grape Search. It's a solid solution to the lookup-problem by a professional team."
Philipp Kanape, CEO – Engarde
"The Grape engineers where a charm to work with and integrated our product fast and resourceful."
Gerhild Bauer, PM – Engarde
All Content from TELE Infonet is accessible right from the chat.
Grape was tasked with integrating TELE's network file system, consisting of a few terabytes of data, accumulated over the past two decades. This led to two challenges: First, how do you integrate a filesystem without a proper web-based API? Second, how do you open the selected files from the web browser?
Senior Developer Christoph Leitner wrote an efficient Windows application that runs on the fileserver and sends changes directly to our index. Our desktop Apps for Mac and Windows got an update so they could open the referenced files directly from the chat.
Now all files and documents created over the past 20 years can be searched conveniently and fast right from the chat, saving precious time for TELE and their team.
The self-managed company
Invented in 2007 by Brian Robertson, the founder of Pennsylvania's Ternery Software company, Holacracy is the distribution of decision making and authority throug self-organizing teams. It removes the management hierarchy and makes all employees stakeholders of the company's decisions and therefore its success.
Holacracy is highly biased towards action and innovation: it defaults to autonomy and freedom, then uses internal processes to limit that autonomy when its use in a specific way turns out to be detrimental
Quick dive into the four essential elements of holacracy:
